Kathmandu, Oct. 10 -- The Nepal Stock Exchange posted a modest gain last week, but lower turnover and losses across several sectors indicated continued investor caution, with buying interest concentrated in banking and select hydropower stocks.

The benchmark index rose 4.55 points, or 0.18 percent, to 2,591.80 in the five-session week ending October 9. Market capitalisation increased by Rs8 billion to Rs4.458 trillion from Rs4.450 trillion the previous week, adding around Rs8 billion to investors' paper wealth. However, total turnover fell by 18.1 percent to Rs 18.44 billion from Rs 22.51 billion.
