Kathmandu, March 8 -- The Rastriya Swatantra Party has secured more than half of the votes counted so far under the proportional representation system for the House of Representatives.

According to the latest consolidated data from counting centres nationwide, the party has received 1,461,381 votes out of a total 2,910,677 ballots, accounting for around 50.2 percent of the vote.

The Nepali Congress is a distant second with 494,251 votes (17 percent), followed by the CPN-UML with 403,899 votes (13.9 percent).

The Nepali Communist Party has secured 193,550 votes (6.6 percent), while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has received 106,396 votes (3.7 percent).
