Nepal, March 7 -- Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Surya Lama has taken the lead in Udayapur-2 after climbing from fourth to first place in the ongoing vote count.

According to the latest tally, Lama has secured 4,287 votes. CPN-UML's Ambar Rayamajhi is in second place with 3,656 votes.

Nepali Communist Party candidate Suresh Kumar Rai is third with 2,467 votes, while Shram Sanskriti Party's Balraj Rai has 2,120 votes. The Nepali Congress candidate is in fifth place with 2,059 votes.

Election Officer Lok Bahadur Katuwal said vote counting from Limchungbung, Tapli, and Rautamai rural municipalities has been completed, while counting from Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality is currently underway.
