Kathmandu, July 10 -- Police are questioning three members of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Police in connection with the death of Ganesh Nepali, the ride-hailing driver who set himself on fire outside the Department of Passports in Tripureshwor on Thursday.

The three municipal police personnel were called in for questioning at the Kathmandu District Police Range, according to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai.

"We are recording their statements to establish exactly what happened. They have not been detained," Bhattarai told Kantipur.

Police have not disclosed the identities of the three personnel.

Nepali died on Friday while undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital after suffering severe burn injuries.
