Panel probing former home minister Gurung gets five-day extension
Kathmandu, June 2 -- The government has extended the tenure of the committee formed to investigate allegations involving former home minister Sudan Gurung by five days.
The committee, tasked with examining public allegations, share investments and the sources of Gurung's assets, was originally due to complete its work by Monday. A committee member said the extension was granted at the panel's request to allow it to complete the remaining work.
Joint Attorney General Achyut Mani Neupane, a committee member, said the panel had completed recording Gurung's statement and its fact-finding work, but sought additional time to analyse the evidence and prepare its report.
He said the five-day extension took effect on Tuesday.
