Kathmandu, Aug. 20 -- The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) fell by 9.70 points on Wednesday, closing at 2,767.20.

The benchmark index dropped by 0.34 percent from the previous day, raising fresh concerns among investors.

According to the stock exchange, the share prices of 188 companies declined, while only 59 advanced and 2 remained unchanged. The larger number of losers outweighed the gainers, dragging the overall index down.

A total of 15.27 million shares were traded through 53,853 transactions, amounting to Rs5.20 billion. The turnover was lower than on Tuesday, when Rs5.63 billion worth of shares had changed hands.
