Kathmandu, Aug. 17 -- The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) began the week on a negative note, shedding 27.14 points to close at 2,761.22 on Sunday.
The benchmark index slipped by 0.97 percent compared to the previous trading day, as all sectoral sub-indices ended in the red.
A total of 20.51 million shares of 317 companies were traded in 86,669 transactions, amounting to Rs7.73 billion in turnover, according to the stock exchange.
By sector, banking dropped 1.03 percent, development banks 0.51 percent, finance 0.93 percent, hotels and tourism 0.21 percent, hydropower 0.77 percent, investment 0.83 percent and life insurance 0.71 percent.
