Kathmandu, March 16 -- The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell by 26.07 points on Monday, reflecting a double-digit decline in the market.

The benchmark index dropped by 0.92 percent to close at 2,798.83 points.

Of the companies traded during the day, share prices of 48 firms increased, while 211 declined. The share prices of four companies remained unchanged.

Sectoral performance was largely negative, with all sub-indices declining except the manufacturing and processing sector, which rose by 24.76 points. Among the major losers, the life insurance sub-index dropped by 127.68 points, non-life insurance by 52.65 points and development banks by 51.46 points.
