Kathmandu, Sept. 21 -- Nepal's stock market will remain closed on Monday after a technical failure at a data centre hosting the servers of 72 trading members disrupted the system.

The Nepal Stock Exchange said the problem at Data Hub Pvt Ltd began on Sunday morning and had not been resolved despite ongoing efforts.

The exchange said continuing trading under the circumstances could damage its own trading system, prompting it to suspend the regular session for the day.

The suspension also followed a request from the Stock Brokers Association of Nepal, according to a notice issued by the exchange.

Nepse said it had halted trading on Monday under Rule 21(1) of the Securities Listing and Trading Regulations, 2018.
