Kathmandu, Sept. 4 -- Nine days after a flash flood tore through the Trishuli river corridor in central Nepal, rescuers on Friday pulled a man alive from a tunnel at the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project, raising hopes that others could still be trapped inside.

The man, identified as Sanjay Sah, was rescued from the tunnel, according to Shri Ram Neupane, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party and an engineer who has been involved in the search operation since the flood struck on August 26.

Neupane said rescuers had received information that other people were still inside the tunnel and were continuing to search for them.
