Kathmandu, Aug. 7 -- Kathmandu Gorkhas' head coach Monty Desai arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday, marking his return to Nepal nine months after stepping down from the national team.

Desai was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by Gorkhas executive director Anubhav Swar Sirohiya and CEO Suraj Singh Thakuri, signalling the start of preparations for the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), which begins later this year.

The 51-year-old brings with him a proven track record, having previously coached the Nepal national team from February 2023 to February 2025.

During his tenure, Nepal won 11 out of 12 matches in the ICC CWC League 2, to secure qualification for the 2023 ODI World Cup Global Qualifier.
