Kathmandu, Feb. 1 -- The Indian government has announced a grant of Rs12.8 billion for Nepal for the fiscal year 2026-27, maintaining the same level of support as last year.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget in Parliament on Sunday, stating that Nepal would receive Rs12.8 billion, equivalent to 8 billion in Indian currency. In the current fiscal year, India had revised its assistance to Nepal to Rs13.28 billion, up from the initially announced Rs11.2 billion.

Among neighbouring countries, Bhutan remains the largest recipient, with Rs36.61 billion allocated for 2026-27 - up from Rs31.2 billion in the ongoing fiscal year.
