Kathmandu, Oct. 29 -- The Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu has stated that it will reopen after reconstruction, citing that it suffered extensive damage during the protests on September 8-9.
On Sunday, the hotel's executive director, Suresh Lal Shrestha, issued a statement saying that the damage caused by the protests was being assessed and that it would reopen after reconstruction.
The hotel said the upgrade and reconstruction would take at least a year.
"During the protest, vandalism, looting and arson activities at the hotel caused extensive damage to the overall structure of the hotel, including guest rooms, offices, reception, lobby, restaurant, banquet hall, and chaitya. The hotel has been completely closed since then," the statement s...
