Pokhara, April 6 -- Home Minister Sudan Gurung is at the centre of a dispute after it emerged that he leased 10 ropani (1 ropani = 508.73 square metres) of land near Phewa Lake in Pokhara for 15 years but allegedly failed to pay rent for seven years.
The land, located at Simle Lamdanda across Phewa Lake in ward 22 of Pokhara Metropolitan City, was leased in 2018 at an annual rent of Rs200,000. Landowner Om Bahadur Gurung said only one year's rent has been paid since the agreement.
According to him, the leased land includes six ropani with formal ownership certificates. At the same time, the remaining plots were subdivided and used informally by members of the Gurung family, including descendants of Reshamlal Gurung, Mekh Bahadur Gurung ...
