Kathmandu, March 28 -- Former prime minister and CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli has been admitted to Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) for medical observation shortly after being taken into police custody on Saturday morning.

Oli was apprehended from his residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur, following the government's decision to implement the recommendations of a high-level commission chaired by Gauri Bahadur Karki, which investigated the state's handling of the "Gen Z" protests on September 8-9.

Medical professionals at TUTH said Oli, a two-time kidney transplant recipient, is being monitored by a specialist team of cardiologists and nephrologists.
