Nepal, Oct. 5 -- Continuous rainfall has pushed eight major rivers past the danger level, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported on Sunday morning.

Flood measurement centres for the Bagmati, Sun Koshi, Arun, Tamor, Koshi, Budhikhola-Sunsari, and Biring Khola in Jhapa show water levels above the danger mark.

Binod Parajuli, head of the department's Flood Forecasting Division, said 12 other river centres remain above the alert level. He added that water levels are rising in Koshi Province, while in Bagmati and parts of Madhesh Province, levels are stable or slowly receding.
