Dailekh, March 6 -- Nepali Congress candidate Basana Thapa has taken an early lead in the vote count for the parliamentary seat in Dailekh-1.

According to the ongoing count from Thursday's elections, 1,630 votes have been tallied so far. Thapa has received 604 votes.

Her nearest rival, CPN-UML candidate Rabindraraj Sharma, has secured 549 votes.

Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Nanda Kishor Basnet has received 332 votes, while Nepali Communist Party candidate Amar Bahadur Thapa has polled 33 votes.
