Sindhuli, Oct. 10 -- The Nepalthok-Dhulikhel section of the BP Highway has reopened five days after flood on October 4-5 damaged the temporary track at 16 places, blocking 3.5 kilometres of the road.

Diversions were constructed at three points towards Sindhuli and 13 points towards Kavre, allowing traffic to resume from Friday. Manoj Shrestha, a hotelier in Mulkot, said motorcycles and small vehicles are now moving through Bhakunde and Mamti towards Sindhuli.

Last year's floods had heavily damaged 22 kilometres from Nepalthok to Chauki Danda, taking nearly three weeks to reopen. This year, the prompt construction of the diversion allowed the highway to reopen within five days.
