Kathmandu, Sept. 16 -- The bodies of six people who died during the Gen-Z-led protests of September 8 and 9 have been transported to their respective districts for final rites with the support of the Nepal Army.

The Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepal Army, said that the remains were airlifted along with family members to Sunsari, Udayapur, Siraha, Dhankuta, and Sankhuwasabha districts.

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, upon assuming office on Monday, had announced that the government would ensure the bodies of those killed in the protests were delivered to their home districts.

So far, authorities have confirmed 72 deaths in connection with the recent demonstrations.
