Kathmandu, Oct. 8 -- Veteran actor and filmmaker Nana Patekar died on Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa. He was 75.

According to hospital sources cited by NDTV, doctors tried to revive Patekar for nearly 45 minutes after he was brought to hospital, but he did not respond. He was declared dead at 5:20 am.

Patekar's son, Malhar Patekar, was in Pune at the time and has left for Goa, according to the sources.

Born on January 1, 1951, in Maharashtra, Patekar established himself as an actor known for his intensity, distinctive dialogue delivery and portrayals of complex and unconventional characters.
