Jammu, Oct. 10 -- Even as constituents of the INDIA bloc continue to hold protests across Jammu and Kashmir against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, the ruling National Conference (NC) appears unwilling to give its coalition partner, the Congress, credit for the agitation.

In response to a call by the INDIA bloc, joint protests have been under way for the past three days in different parts of the Union Territory under the leadership of the Congress, demanding the CEC's resignation.

Highly placed sources said the NC leadership has taken serious note of what it sees as an attempt by the Congress to hijack the protests and project itself as the only party seriously opposing the policies of the BJP-led Centre.
