Jammu, April 4 -- The second budget session of the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government concluded on Friday without any decision on the appointment of a Deputy Speaker in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, leaving the issue shrouded in uncertainty.

The two-phase session had earlier raised expectations that the post would be filled, but no announcement was made before the House adjourned sine die.

The National Conference government, which assumed office on October 16, 2024 with the support of the Congress, CPI(M) and several Independents, has come under scrutiny over the delay.
