CHANDIGARH, May 27 -- Panjab University teachers and administrative officials on Wednesday observed a 'vehicle-free day' on the campus here in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to cut down fuel consumption.
PU officials either reached their respective offices on foot or by bicycle. Last week, the Chandigarh administration observed 'no vehicle day' after the Punjab Governor and Chandigarh administrator Gulab Chand Kataria asked officials to avoid using four-wheelers every Wednesday and instead use public transport, electric vehicles, bicycles, and other alternative means of transport.
