Jammu, Dec. 14 -- A large number of residents of Panchayat Degwar, Poonch, today expressed their sincere gratitude to Hon'ble MLA Poonch, Ajaz Jan, for providing Rs.25 lakh for the development of the Shamshan Ghat, the last rites place of the Hindu and Sikh communities of the area.
The development work was formally kick-started in the presence of prominent local representatives and senior citizens of the panchayat.
The locals stated that for many years they had been facing serious difficulties, particularly during the rainy season and harsh winters, due to the poor condition and lack of proper facilities at the Shamshan Ghat.
The release of funds has brought much-needed relief and dignity to the families performing last rites.
