Jammu, Feb. 17 -- Nearly 12,977 teacher posts are currently lying vacant across Jammu and Kashmir, with the Jammu division accounting for the larger share, the Legislative Assembly was informed on Tuesday.
In a written reply, Education Minister Sakina Itoo said that of the total vacancies, 7,985 posts are unfilled in the Jammu division, while 4,992 vacancies exist in the Kashmir division.
Within the Kashmir division, Anantnag tops the list with 1,016 vacant posts, followed by Budgam (797), Pulwama (764) and Kupwara (621). Srinagar has 535 vacancies, Bandipora 310, Baramulla 284, Shopian 256, Ganderbal 244 and Kulgam 165, taking the divisional total to 4,992.
