AKHNOOR, Nov. 4 -- MLA Akhnoor Mohan Lal Bhagat on Wednesday inaugurated flood protection work at Chak Sikander along the Chenab river, being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.53 crore under the SASCI scheme by the Flood Control Division, Akhnoor.
The project aims to protect vulnerable areas from soil erosion caused by the rising water level and strong currents of the Chenab. The work will involve construction of crate revetment along the right bank of the river to prevent further erosion and safeguard adjoining agricultural land.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohan Lal Bhagat said that several villages in the Akhnoor constituency face the serious problem of land erosion whenever the water level in the Chenab rises. Hundreds of kanals of ...
