Jammu, Oct. 18 -- In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir government has assured the High Court of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh that necessary arrangements have been made to enable jailed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Mehraj Malik to cast his vote in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections through a postal ballot. Malik, the sole AAP MLA in the region, is set to participate in the elections scheduled for October 24, 2025, despite being in custody.
During a hearing before Justice Rajesh Sekhri on Saturday, senior advocate Sunil Sethi, accompanied by Senior Additional Advocate General Monika Kohli, informed the court that the government had already dispatched the postal ballot to the competent authority to facilitate Malik's voting rights. ...
