JAMMU, March 19 -- The proactive and innovative strategy devised by J&K Police to counter terror in mountains and forests has led to significant decline in terror-related incidents in the upper reaches of Jammu region.

Sources said that in 2023-24, the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri and upper reaches of Udhampur as well as an area of Kathua witnessed terror attacks, raising serious security concerns.

"It was during this challenging period that Nalin Prabhat assumed charge as the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir and began restructuring counter-terror operations with a focused approach on difficult terrains," the sources said.
