JAMMU, Aug. 19 -- In a significant order aimed at ensuring smooth functioning of the criminal justice system, the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has permitted manual acceptance of chargesheets and challans in exceptional cases where technical glitches hinder online filing through the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS).

The ICJS application, which is operational across criminal courts in both Union Territories, is the designated platform for electronic filing of chargesheets and challans. However, frequent technical issues have been hampering the process, preventing police from filing challans or courts from retrieving them.
