Jammu, April 18 -- In a significant move, the government on Saturday ordered the takeover of the management committees of 58 schools found to be linked to the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and its affiliate, Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT).
Officials said the order was issued by the Secretary of the School Education Department (SED), following notifications by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, which declared Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir an unlawful organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
