Jammu, June 19 -- The Congress party's decision to suspend its much-publicized five-day Padyatra for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir after just one day has sparked discussions and raised eyebrows in political circles.
Launched under the campaign slogan "Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq", the Padyatra was projected as a major mass-contact programme aimed at mobilizing public support for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood. The party had announced that the march would continue for five days across different parts of Jammu city and would culminate in a strong public message in support of statehood.
