Jammu, Aug. 4 -- Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a steady rise in both cancer incidence and mortality, with official estimates indicating that nearly 14,500 new cancer cases and more than 8,000 cancer-related deaths were recorded in the Union Territory in 2025.
The figures were revealed by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, citing estimates prepared by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE).
According to the data, the estimated number of new cancer cases in Jammu and Kashmir increased from 13,060 in 2021 to 13,395 in 2022, 13,744 in 2023, 14,112 in 2024, and is projected to reach 14,493 in 2025.
