Jammu, Sept. 3 -- Big relief could soon be on its way for over 50 lakh Central Government employees and more than 65 lakh pensioners across the country. After months of anticipation, fresh details have emerged on the 8th Pay Commission's progress - covering everything from the crucial fitment factor to expected changes in basic pay and allowances.

The commission was given an 18-month window to finalise its recommendations, and half that time - nine months - has already elapsed.
