Jammu, June 4 -- Weeks before the commencement of the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, police in Kashmir have foiled an alleged fraud attempt targeting pilgrims and local service providers, arresting a man accused of impersonating a government official and collecting money on false promises of facilitating Yatra-related services.
Shri Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 28, 2026, with thousands of pilgrims expected to undertake the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir.
