SRINAGAR, Aug. 8 -- The Amarnath Yatra 2026 will remain suspended from August 9 on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes due to ongoing track restoration and maintenance works following recent rains, coupled with adverse weather conditions forecast over the coming days, officials said.
The 57-day annual pilgrimage, which commenced on July 3, 2026, simultaneously from the Chandanwari route in Anantnag district and the Baltal route in Ganderbal district, is scheduled to culminate on August 28 with the traditional Chadi Mubarak ceremony.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg said that more than 4.8 lakh pilgrims have so far performed darshan at the Holy Cave Shrine during the ongoing Yatra.
