Jammu, May 20 -- The vigilance of a farmer from Jammu's border belt thwarted a major cross-border narcotics smuggling attempt on Wednesday after he discovered nearly three kilograms of heroin allegedly dropped by a Pakistan-based drone in his agricultural field in Bahadurpur village of the Arnia-Bishnah sector.
The recovery has sent security agencies into high alert, with investigators suspecting that the consignment was part of an organised narco-smuggling network operating from across the International Border.
According to police, the heroin was packed in six waterproof packets weighing around 500 grams each, a method commonly used in drone-dropped consignments of narcotics and weapons sent from Pakistan into Indian territory.
