India, Sept. 22 -- Seven of the nine planetary boundaries that signify the health of Earth have transgressed from the safe operating limits with all the transgressed boundaries showing worsening trends, according to the Planetary Health Check 2026 released by the Planetary Boundaries Science Lab at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), Germany.

The seven transgressed boundaries are climate change; change in biosphere integrity; modification of bio geochemical flows; introduction of novel entities; land system change; freshwater change; ocean acidification. Out of these, the first four have transgressed strongly and are in the high-risk zone and rest three have transgressed into the increasing risk zone.
