India, Aug. 5 -- NASA is tracking a discarded SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket stage that is expected to crash into the Moon around 06:35 GMT, or about 12:05pm IST.

The rocket part was launched in January 2025 and was later pushed towards the Moon by solar activity and gravitational forces.

NASA says the impact poses no danger to Earth but could create a crater about 60 ft wide and 12 ft deep.

Scientists hope to use telescopes and lunar orbiters to study the crash and improve techniques for tracking objects in space.
