Half of India's women farmers recorded as unpaid helpers, report says
India, Aug. 19 -- A new study highlights that most women working in Indian agriculture lack formal recognition as farmers, restricting their access to credit, inputs and procurement systems.
Although women make up 48% of the agricultural workforce, they hold under 14% of operational holdings, and their farms are less productive due to resource constraints.
The report estimates annual losses of Rs 1.2-2 lakh crore and urges policy reforms.
