India, Aug. 4 -- For decades, decisions about children's nutrition in India have largely been made by adults, with young people rarely asked what makes healthy eating difficult.

More than 1.4 lakh adolescents shared their experiences through a nationwide U-Report survey under the Let's Fix Our Food initiative.

Young people said food advertisements, poor access to healthy options, high costs, confusing food labels and unhealthy food environments shape what they eat.

The initiative shows that children and adolescents can be partners in building healthier food environments, from schools and homes to policy conversations.
