India, July 20 -- The IMD has issued Red Alerts for Himalayan states as extremely heavy rainfall raises the risk of landslides, flash floods and river swelling.

Delhi-NCR remains under an Orange Alert with heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds expected to continue over the coming days.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast across Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and several eastern states this week.

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely across multiple regions, prompting authorities to urge residents to remain cautious and alert.

The weather department has advised people and farmers to follow safety guidelines as active monsoon conditions persist across much of India.
