India, May 14 -- Zydus Lifesciences on Wednesday announced the acquisition of US-based pharma company Assertio Holdings for a total consideration of USD 166.4 million (around Rs 1,590 crore).

The company said its subsidiary, Zydus Worldwide DMCC, through wholly-owned acquisition arm Zara Merger Sub Inc, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire all outstanding shares of Assertio Holdings at USD 23.50 per share in cash.

According to the company statement, the transaction values Assertio at approximately USD 166.4 million on a fully diluted basis, calculated using the treasury stock method.
