India, Aug. 20 -- Silver prices surged Rs 2,163 to Rs 2,38,950 per kg in futures trade on Thursday, tracking firm global trends after a surprise US Treasury liquidity-support announcement pushed bond yields and the US dollar lower.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), silver contracts for September delivery gained Rs 2,163, or nearly 1%, to Rs 2,38,950 per kg, with a business turnover of 10,383 lots.
Analysts said softer US Treasury yields and a weaker dollar boosted the appeal of silver, supporting buying interest in the precious metal.
