India, Aug. 6 -- The Indian rupee weakened by 9 paise to 95.17 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, as persistent geopolitical concerns outweighed support from lower crude oil prices.

The domestic currency opened at 95.13 in the interbank foreign exchange market before slipping to 95.17, compared with its previous close of 95.08 against the greenback on Wednesday.
