India, Sept. 2 -- The rupee weakened by 6 paise to 88.16 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, pressured by sustained foreign fund outflows and firm dollar demand.
On Monday, the currency had touched a record intraday low of 88.33 before recovering marginally by the close. The decline highlights the ongoing pressure on the rupee, as India faces the steepest US tariffs among Asian exporters — a key drag on sentiment and currency stability.
