India, Aug. 26 -- The rupee ended 12 paise lower at 87.68 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday, weighed down by weak domestic markets and concerns over the US move to impose an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods from August 27.

Forex traders said strong dollar demand from importers and caution over the impending tariff pressured the local unit. At the interbank forex market, the rupee opened at 87.74, touched a high of 87.63, and hit an intraday low of 87.80.
