India, Sept. 24 -- The rupee weakened 11 paise to 95.84 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, pressured by heightened geopolitical uncertainty and a sharp rise in crude oil prices.

Forex traders said higher US bond yields and a stronger dollar added to the pressure on the domestic currency. Foreign capital inflows also failed to provide support amid selling pressure in the domestic equity market.

The rupee opened at 95.84 per US dollar at the interbank foreign exchange market, down 11 paise from its previous close.
