India, Aug. 19 -- The rupee edged up 1 paisa to 95.73 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, supported by likely RBI intervention, while heightened tensions in West Asia kept global markets cautious.
Forex traders said the rise in global crude oil prices continued to weigh on the domestic currency, while a weaker dollar index and foreign institutional investor (FII) inflows provided some support.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 95.72 against the US dollar before slipping to 95.73, marking a marginal gain of 1 paisa from its previous close.
