India, Oct. 6 -- The Indian rupee slipped 3 paise to close at a record low of 88.82 (provisional) against the US dollar on Monday, pressured by a stronger greenback overseas and a sharp rise in crude oil prices.
The local unit traded in a narrow range throughout the session as support from positive domestic equities was outweighed by foreign capital outflows and geopolitical uncertainties, traders said.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 88.75 against the dollar and settled at 88.82, marking a 3-paise decline from its previous close.
