India, Nov. 5 -- The Indian rupee depreciated 9 paise to 94.55 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, pressured by broad strength in the American currency in overseas markets.

However, positive domestic equity markets and easing crude oil prices cushioned the downside.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 94.36 before slipping to 94.55 against the dollar, compared with its previous closing level.
